Principal Visual Designer

The Principal Visual Designer role at Dynatrace is a high-impact position focused on leading the evolution of the company's identity and design language. As part of a team of visual designers, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create cohesive and innovative experiences. Your responsibilities include setting design direction, delivering outstanding presentations, and driving the continuous development of the design language. Success in this role involves pioneering new expressions, influencing creative direction, and creating consistent and impactful experiences across the company's solutions.

Your role at Dynatrace

At Dynatrace, our mission is to deliver answers and intelligent automation from data. As the Principal Visual Designer on our Design Language team, you will help us achieve that mission in a high-impact, high-visibility role designing the next generation of our product.

Your leadership will drive what is next in the evolution of our identity and expression. You will lead a group of visual designers (typography, motion design, illustration, iconography). Together, you will partner with the Design System team, the Platform UI team, and the Experience Design leadership to evaluate, envision, and expand our identity and design language.

Your team will also work on highly conceptual, future-forward designs and concepts under your guidance.

Success in this role is envisioning, delivering, and continuously pushing the future of our visual identity as a living, breathing system. You will pioneer new expressions that connect and span our family of capabilities and solutions, pushing forward possibilities. This work will set the bar for high-quality expression, influence creative direction, inform our product design language and design system, and create more consistent and cross-solution experiences at every touchpoint.

Your role

  • Head up the direction, development, standards, and documentation of our identity, inclusive of personality, voice and tone, and visual language.

  • Guide and direct delivery of cohesive, end-to-end experiences, ranging from small, signature moments to holistic scales.

  • Collaborate with Experience Design leadership to establish effective processes, methods, and culture for the continuous development of our design language.

  • Deliver outstanding presentations, moving people toward what is next through thoughtful, inspiring content, design, and storytelling.

  • Work alongside the UX Director for Platform in driving staffing for the practice — including planning teams for upcoming programs and adjusting resources as necessary on current projects.

  • Support the UX Director for Platform in recruiting, and developing their practice team and creative discipline, setting clear goals, defining career paths, and creating development opportunities.

  • Lead, coach, inspire and motivate the creation and delivery of truly remarkable, influential, and impactful work.

What will help you succeed

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related professional experience, along with 10+ years of proven experience in brand and identity design, design strategy, experience strategy, design thinking, and human-centered design.

  • Executive-level communication, presentation, storytelling, influence, and interpersonal skills.

  • Deep familiarity with identity and experience design in digital products and services and the ability to inject fresh ideas into a world-class experience design organization.

  • Able to balance methodological rigor with scrappiness and urgency.

  • Towering strengths in conceptual thinking and creative problem-solving.

  • Extraordinarily skilled in both written and spoken communication.

  • Experienced in the scale and implementation of design language systems.

  • An exceptional portfolio demonstrating all of the above.

Dynatrace believes that potential is defined by more than qualifications or background. If you're passionate about this job, working in a tech environment, and are eager to learn, we invite you to apply.
