In our research center situated in the heart of the Linz Institute of Technology (LIT), engineers and researchers collaborate to build next-generation technologies that help companies to run better, safer, and more innovative software.
Research field
Your research should focus on topics in one or multiple of the following fields:
Transaction processing
Query processing
Cloud databases
Similarity search and data extraction
Distributed systems
Data Sketching & Compression
Stream processing and analysis
Query optimization
New architectures and caching
Indexing and search
Your role
Conduct research in the field of Distributed Data Systems and/or Real-time Analytics with the goal of completing a PhD
Design the new architecture to address the massive data ingest and data handling as well as develop optimized algorithms
Contribute to the global Research Community: Publish and disseminate research findings in journals and speak at conferences
Actively take part in scientific and industrial cooperation projects
Bridge academic research and commercial technology development: Collaborate with our Data Platform team and other internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
Master-level degree in Computer Science or a related field
Interest and curiosity for at least one of the relevant research topics (as mentioned above)
Willingness to publish and present your research results (for example, in scientific journals and conferences)
A good feeling for performance and resource constraints
Excellent English skills (oral and written)

Due to legal reasons we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary for this position, which is € 47,600 gross per year based on full-time employment (38.5 h/week). We offer a higher salary in line with qualifications and experience.
